ABOUT ME
I teach and coach with one goal in mind: help children become more independent and happy at home, school, and in the community. My 14 years teaching in a variety of special education classrooms combined with my personal experience have fueled my passion for executive function (EF) skills. I have undergraduate degrees in Elementary and Special Education, a master’s degree in Special Education (specializing in Autism).
My experience includes working in public schools, private school, a pediatric nursing home/rehab center, community habilitation/respite worker, and special education instructional coach for paraprofessionals, related service providers, and teachers. I also have experience working with and training/coaching parents, and assisting with facilitating the family support program at the College of Saint Rose’s Friday Knights for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I specialize in early childhood (ages 3-6) and work with children through middle school (age 13). My philosophy is for all children to become as independent as possible with:
aid of visual supports and adult-modeling of EF skills
direct teaching with the goal to generalize skills across all environments
using multi-sensory instruction and activities that are actively engaging and fun
modeling and teaching visualization / writing strategies to help self-evaluate and problem solving
“Let’s empower children to be solution seekers and be as independent as possible!”
